From hotels to the internet, from car sales to manufacturing and they come in all sizes. But what is it that makes Slovenia a desirable place to do business? That is what Destination Slovenia is all about. Is it the quality of workforce, costs or the geographic position - we plan to find out. Maybe there is something to learn, for other companies or even Slovenia. According to Rob Howland and Andrew Hunt Vodopivec who have been working here for many years and came together to form this company in 2018, there are many pitfalls in exporting to any country, so I asked them to take us through the areas to concentrate on. http://videoweb.rtvslo.si/podcast/ava_archive05/2019/04/18/CoffeeCupConsulting1682419.mp3 RSI 1465 clean This week the programme focuses on Slovene Businesses who want to export to the UK, with expert advice from the international business growth and export consultancy, Coffee Cup Consulting. Of course it is a matter of scale, a few personal advantages, laziness or millions of Euros being systematically being misappropriated. Setting one up in a foreign country has many more. Language, regulations, employment law and taxation are just four and all different to what you might already know from home. You can find individual local experts to help you and here in Slovenia the government agency Spirit Slovenia will offer many pointers and overall advice but you are still totally responsible and they cannot do everything for you. However there are agencies who can work with you on all of these issues and what's more, if you put everything under one roof the skills you need will communicate between each other to ensure a best possible result. I spoke with Alja Arko a consultant responsible for working with foreign companies from the agency Data in Ljubljana who have been advising such companies for 28 years. http://videoweb.rtvslo.si/podcast/ava_archive05/2019/03/08/AGENCIES1664147.mp3 RSI 1253 clean There is no doubt that setting up a new business has many pitfalls.
